The Messiaen Project Live: May 2, 2014

BSM piano faculty, Jesse Stacken presented solo piano compositions from his year-long, weekly project where he wrote pieces in the style and spirit of French composer Olivier Messiaen.








Concerto Concert: April 25, 2014

On April 25, 2014, Bloomingdale presented its biennial Concerto Concert, featuring winners of the Vincent Wagner Concerto Competition.  The winners were Jasmine Yanase, violin; Harry Sun, piano; Joanna Kuang and Richard He, pianos; Alexander Goldberg, piano.  They were accompanied by a professional string orchestra under the direction of Kyunghun Kim.





    




Vocal Workshop: April 12, 2014

Bloomingdale presented its Annual Vocal Workshop on Saturday, April 14 with Guest Artist Jacob Smith.  The event began with a masterclass and ended with a Vocal Studio Recital.  Mr. Smith was enthusiastic and helped bring something special from each of the student participants.  Below are some pictures from the event.

On Friday, April 11, BSM faculty Judith Olson was joined by guest violinist Rolf Schulte, in a program  of works by three nineteenth-century nationalists: Tchaikovsky Smetana, and Greig.
